Baby Blue Cabernet from Blue Rock Vineyard
Baby Blue started life as the second wine of Blue Rock Vineyard made primarily from the young vines on the Estate. However, since its release it has become wildly popular with each vintage a sell out on release. It has morphed from a “second wine” to an “Estate Red Blend” that is meant to be softer and more immediately accessible than Blue Rock Cabernet yet with the same vineyard character that makes both wines unique and special.
The 2010 vintage gave us a lot of great wine to work with. The 100% Estate 2010 Baby Blue is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 % Merlot, 13 % Cabernet Franc, and 10% Syrah. The wine spent 16 months in French Oak (once used) and has been bottled unfined. As a result, Baby Blue is delicious on release and is intended for mid-term cellaring.
Baby Blue is very much in the spirit of Blue Rock Cabernet and it is a great value.
